Ever relied upon an online source, only later to find it deleted or changed? Ever wanted to travel back in time? This class will cover the next best thing, web archives. We'll look at getting the most out of resources like the Wayback Machine -- what they're good for, and what they're not. We'll then look at when to build your own private archives of web content, and go hands-on to create our own archive with an easy-to-use tool. You'll leave this session with an understanding of the different web archiving tools that exist -- what they can do, their pros and cons -- plus knowledge of how and when to build your own archives.

Prior knowledge: To attend this session, no prior knowledge is required.

All the software necessary will be pre-installed on the school computers. Participants who want to join with own laptops need: Google Chrome, plus the Webrecorder extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fpeoodllldobpkbkabpblcfaogecpndd
